I have an ardent affection for the well-worn tropes of historical romance. Desperate widow enlists virile stranger to get her pregnant? Bring it on. Tormented Waterloo veteran seeks healing and redemption with the help of the right woman? Never gets old.
Better yet is when the trope takes an unexpected turn. What if the widow is singularly unimpressed by the stranger's virility, even in closest quarters? What if the veteran's path to redemption leads him into a shady alliance with a woman uninterested in being any man's healing angel? Those are the stories I like to write. I hope you'll enjoy them as well.
